Unfortunately, if your wood is already rotting, there is no other fix than replacing the wood. That is why it is essential to protect your deck before the damage begins. Staining your deck will save you money in the long run and give you peace of mind. Applying stain to your deck will keep your deck from rotting due to mold and prevent insect infestation. Not only will this protect your deck, but it will also give your deck a new appearance with the various stain colors out there. Although deck staining may be more work and money than you were thinking about spending, it is less expensive than replacing an entire deck.

Tips on manintaining your deck?
- Examine your deck for any damages at least once a year. To be sure that your deck is structurally sound, check the following areas and look out for raised nails.
2. Pressure Wash & Apply Stain or Sealer. It is important to contact professionals who know how to to properly use the equipment to pressure wash your deck as incorrect use can damage the wood. After the deck has dried from the wash, apply the stain and be sure to allow at least 24 hours before using the deck.
3. Avoid trapping moisture. Do not allow leaves to accumulate as these can cause mold or wood rot. Additionally, avoid using outdoor rugs as these can be difficult to maintain and ultimately allow mold and mildew to debelop underneath.
